Tau 2

Longwave Infrared Thermal Camera Module with Enhanced Performance and Increased Sensitivity

Made in USA, the Tau 2 is the most advanced, highest performance longwave infrared (LWIR) Tau 2 camera model from Teledyne FLIR. It maintains the widely deployed and real-world-tested Tau 2 mechanical, electrical, and optical interfaces allowing plug-and-play with existing designs. Its new 1.5x sensitivity improvement and an entirely redesigned image processing engine deliver dramatically enhanced scene contrast and sharpness.

Tau 2 is the go-to thermal camera module for the most challenging environments, including detection of the smallest, hardest to find targets over long distances. Enhanced LWIR thermal performance and market-leading reliability provide low-risk development in the short run and the long run, making it the ideal thermal camera module for unmanned vehicles, security applications, and thermal sights.

Tau 2

LONGWAVE INFRARED THERMAL CAMERA CORE

Made in USA, the Tau 2 OEM thermal imaging cameras offer an unmatched combination of features and reliability, making them well-suited for demanding applications including unmanned vehicles, thermal sights, and handheld imagers. Improved electronics provide powerful image processing modes that dramatically improve detail and contrast through continuous histogram equalization.

All Tau 2 configurations share electrical, mechanical, and optical interfaces allowing integrations to be designed that work seamlessly with all formats. Available in Commercial, Performance, and Industrial variants, each with unique sensitivity and pixel operability thresholds to meet operational requirements. Radiometry is an optional feature for Performance-grade cameras, and standard feature with Industrial-grade. All Tau 2 configurations and resolutions share electrical, mechanical, and optical interfaces allowing integrations to be designed that work seamlessly with all formats.

Teledyne FLIR NFOV Lens Holder for the FLIR TAU 2 Thermal Cameras

FLIR Tau PCB Wearsaver with Solder Pads

A low-profile adapter that attaches to the Tau's 50-pin Hirose connector, furnishing a solder pad interface. Schematic included.

The Tau2 Wearsaver was designed to be an internal engineering/manufacturing calibration accessory, rather than an OEM interface.
There is a Hirose mating connector on one side of the board, as shown in the picture below:

When the Wearsaver is attached to the Tau2 camera, there are no exposed connectors, just the solder pads for a 20-pin Samtec (and 14 pads for pogo pins).

The pad connections are limited to input power, RS-232, analog video, and LVDS.

The Wearsaver board does NOT provision for External Sync, Discretes, or CMOS signals.

The physical layout is shown in the picture below:

The lens locking ring is designed to mount a Tau WFOV camera into a bulkhead. The M29 x 1.0 thread on the outside of the lens mount flange is placed through the clearance hole in the bulkhead and the O-ring seals the camera to the face.
The Type 2-025 O-ring is not for sale through FLIR. This is a standard O-ring available from many suppliers.

The lock nut tool will attach to a torque wrench for proper tightening of the lens locking ring. Torque the locking ring to 4.0 in-lbs.

Triton FH-Series R

Multispectral Radiometric Fixed Camera

The FLIR Triton FH-Series R are ruggedized, multispectral fixed cameras that integrate industry-leading thermal imaging with 4K visible imaging to provide rapid visual verification of hot spots in early fire detection applications. When a hot spot or temperature change is detected, the contactless temperature measurement is sent to the operator through a connected Video Management System (VMS) for instantaneous assessment and deployment of response tactics.

Custom scheduling provides security personnel the flexibility to enable and disable alarms depending on business hours and seasonality. Combining the power of thermal hot-spot detection with intelligent vehicle detection, false alarms from hot exhaust pipes can be dramatically reduced.
